Introducing Our New Executive Director

photo (8)-003 - CopyBetsy Hardiman became the new Executive Director of the Stroke Support Association on January 10th of this year. Her previous experience includes working as the office administrator for Pacific Unitarian Church in Rancho Palos Verdes and as a product development coordinator for Teleflora, Inc., in West LA. Before that, while living in New York City, she was a copyeditor/proofreader at Forbes and an editorial assistant at The New Yorker. Over the years she has volunteered in various capacities: a Girl Scout Leader, a delegate to the Regional Girl Scout Council, and both Secretary and Auditor for the Jefferson Elementary School PTA in Redondo Beach. Since August of 2012, she has also served as a volunteer facilitator for the SSA’s Support Groups, held each week for both stroke survivors and caregivers.

Betsy was born and raised in Bay Head, a small town on the Jersey Shore that was recently devastated by Hurricane Sandy. Having graduated from Princeton University in 1984 with a degree in English, she moved to Venice, CA, in 1988, then to Redondo Beach in 1997. She has two daughters, Tessa (19) and Natalie (15). In her free time, she enjoys reading, writing, and running.
