This month, Stroke Support Association (SSA) took a break from our regular routine and headed to the nearby El Dorado Nature Center. Our group of 14, including stroke survivors and caregivers, spent a beautiful fall day exploring the accessible trails with our knowledgeable guide, Tom Hood.

As we crossed the bridge to the sensory trail, the air filled with the earthy, sweet scent of sage and other native plants. And just as Tom described the wildlife around us, a wild screech cut through the air. A Cooper’s Hawk, perched in a tree above, gave us a thrilling glimpse of nature in action.

The day was more than a tour; it was a peaceful, shared adventure that brought us closer. We left feeling refreshed and inspired by the natural beauty right in our own backyard.
