Lois Mosing, long-time Stroke Support Association Board member passes

Lois Mosing, a long-time supporter and spokesperson of the Stroke Support Association (SSA), died September 27, 2022. She became a member of SSA in 1982 and retired from the Board of Directors in 2018. Lois was passionate about educating the community on stroke awareness.

Her husband Lionel received stroke rehabilitation for over two years at St. Mary’s Hospital in Long Beach. Lois was his faithful caregiver for 16 years until his death in 1997. SSA was there to support her through her journey.

Lois was born in Chicago, IL in 1933. She grew up in Minnesota, attending University High School in Minneapolis and St. Olaf College in Northfield.

In 1953, Lois wed Lionel. During their 45 years of marriage, they lived in Minnesota, Indiana, New Jersey, New York and finally Huntington Beach, California. They raised two daughters, Mara and Lisa.

Holding degrees in both music and education, Lois was a music instructor, and then an elementary school educator until her retirement at 65. She then enjoyed traveling and being actively involved in her church and several civic and professional groups.

In addition to her keen mind and forward-thinking ideas, Lois and her beautiful smile are missed by the Stroke Support Association Board of Directors and Members. We are grateful for all of her contributions over the years.
